Sausage & Pepper Mac & Cheese

Ingredient
- 1 pound mild or hot Italian pork sausage or Italian-style turkey sausage, casings removed
- 3 cups Swanson® Unsalted Chicken Broth or Swanson® Natural Goodness® Chicken Broth
- 1 can (10 1/2 ounces) Condensed Cheddar Cheese Soup
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 8 ounces uncooked penne pasta (about 2 2/3 cups)
- 16 ounces frozen pepper and onion blend or 2 cups diced fresh peppers and onions
- 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
Direction

- Cook the sausage in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat until well browned, stirring often to separate meat. Pour off any fat. Remove the sausage from the skillet, cover and keep warm.
- Add the broth, soup, garlic and onion powder and heat to a boil. Stir in the penne and frozen peppers and onions. Reduce the heat to medium. Cook for 15 minutes or until the penne is tender and the sauce has thickened, stirring occasionally.
- Add the cheese and the sausage and stir until the cheese is melted. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
