Easy Beef Taco Bake
Beef Taco Bake is one of our most popular recipes, and it's not hard to see why. It's oven-ready in 15 minutes and it tastes like everything you love about tacos all in one dish! Buy a package of ground beef and pull the rest of the ingredients right from your pantry. Saute the beef, then simmer with a mixture of condensed tomato soup, picante sauce and chili powder. Then, just stir in cut up tortillas and cheese and bake! The flavors are balanced and family-friendly and you can serve with your favorite nacho or taco toppings so everyone can make it their own!
Ingredient
- 1 pound 90% extra lean ground beef
- 1 can (10 3/4 ounces) Condensed Tomato Soup
- 1 cup Pace® Picante Sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 8 corn tortilla (6-inch) or 6 flour tortillas (8-inch), cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese or Monterey Jack cheese (about 4 ounces) (amount divided in recipe steps below)
Direction
- Heat the oven to 400°F. While the oven is heating, season the beef with salt and pepper. Cook the beef in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat until well browned, stirring often to separate meat. Pour off any fat.
- Stir in the soup, picante sauce, water, chili powder, tortillas and 1/2 cup cheese. Season with salt and pepper. Spoon the beef mixture into an 8x8x2-inch baking dish. Cover the baking dish.
- Bake for 30 minutes or until the beef mixture is hot. Sprinkle with the remaining 1/2 cup cheese (the heat from the beef mixture will melt it) and serve hot.
