Biscuit Waffles with Turkey Sausage Gravy
Biscuits and gravy? Been there, done that. Biscuits made in a waffle iron smothered in turkey sawmill gravy? Now that’s more like it. Whether you’re enjoying this easy meal in the morning on Thanksgiving or you’re just looking to liven up weekend brunch, this 7-ingredient recipe is the hottest thing in breakfast.
Ingredient
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 package (9.4 oz) refrigerated fully cooked turkey breakfast sausage, coarsely chopped
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 cups whole milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 pepper
- 1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated Southern Homestyle Buttermilk Biscuits (8 Count)
Direction
- In 12-inch skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add sausage to pan, and stir to coat.
- Add flour; cook over medium-high heat 2 to 3 minutes, stirring constantly, until sausage is coated with flour and lightly browned on edges. Stir in milk with whisk to completely combine. Heat to simmering, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to medium; simmer 4 to 5 minutes or until thickened and until sausage is completely heated through. Add salt and pepper to mixture; stir to blend. Remove from heat; cover and keep warm.
- Meanwhile, spray waffle maker with cooking spray; heat waffle maker to medium-high.
- Separate dough into 8 biscuits. Place 1 biscuit in waffle maker. Close lid; cook 2 to 3 minutes or until golden brown and baked through. Repeat with remaining biscuits.
- Serve biscuit waffles topped with gravy.
